HOLIDAY TBR

holidaytbr

This Sunday, the lovely Julianne and I are going away to Kos, Greece for a week for a well-deserved holiday! Today I thought I’d share all the books I’m thinking of reading while we’re over there.

I’ll be reading these books on my Kindle, because my reading speed when I’m doing pretty much nothing but laze around on a sunlounger all day, is a force to be reckoned with. This might seem like a fairly ambitious TBR for a week, but last time I went away for a week I managed to read 5 books, and when I last went away for two weeks I read 12 books. So I’m making sure that I’m well prepared!

A COURT OF MIST AND FURY — SARAH J. MAAS.

17927395The book at the top of my TBR pile more generally at the moment is Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Mist and FuryI really liked the first book in this series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, but then found that I had some misgivings about it as time passed. However, I’ve seen nothing but good things about this book; even people who absolutely loved the first book are saying that it’s way better. I’m going into this with carefully managed expectations, so I’m really hoping it surprises me.

SOFIA KHAN IS NOT OBLIGED — AYISHA MALIK

25707621

Sofia Khan is Not Obliged is a book that’s been on my radar for quite some time now, and I finally bought it after seeing Leena’s most recent installment in her #StupidQuestionsWithLeena series, titled “What’s it like to be a Muslim woman in Britain?”. In the video, she spoke to Ayisha Malik, the author of this book. She was so lovely and funny that I knew I had to read this. Lots of people have spoken about how funny it is, so I thought it’d be the perfect book for my holiday!

SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE — MORGAN MATSON

18741728I’ve yet to read anything by Morgan Matson, despite seeing so many glowing reviews of her books. I was really interested in Since You’ve Been Gone when I heard people talking about it back when it came out, but for some reason I never picked it up. While I was browsing Amazon for something light to read, I noticed that this was 99p in a Kindle sale, so it was obviously meant to be!

A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC & A GATHERING OF SHADOWS — V.E. SCHWAB

24845064  So these two are probably the most ambitious books on my TBR for this week. While I was interested in A Darker Shade of Magic when it was released, I wasn’t really in any rush to pick it up. It then appeared on my radar again with the release of A Gathering of Shadowsso I basically ended up impulse buying both of them when they were really cheap on Kindle. Which: story of my life, honestly. Amazon know how to get me. I’m incredibly excited to read these. The only other book by V.E. Schwab I’ve read is Viciou25400972s, which is  a book that’s probably due a reread for me, given that I still think about it, but for some reason only appear to have given it three stars after I’d read it? So I know I definitely like her writing, and this series sounds so interesting to me. Her newest novel, This Savage Song also sounds incredible, but I’m restraining myself and am not allowing myself to buy any more of her books until I’ve at least read these two.

So there you have it! That’s my TBR for my upcoming holiday. This isn’t really set in stone, as I’m a mood reader more than anything and I do have quite a few other books on my Kindle that I could read (Red Rising, for instance, is another one I’m thinking about). These are just the ones that I’m really feeling at the moment.

I’d love to know if you’ve read any of these books! Or which ones you think I definitely should read.

I guess I should also mention that I won’t really be present here for the week I’m on holiday. I’ve scheduled two posts to go up but I’m not sure I’ll be able to reply to comments and read your posts until I’m back as I have absolutely no idea what the WiFi is going to be like. However, if I’m going to be anywhere, I’ll be on Twitter and Instagram!

  1. I can’t believe you’ll be reading this many books in a week Amy! Haha I hope you have a wonderful time in Greece! Take some pictures for us 😀

Thanks for linking Leena’s video! I’m watching it at the moment, and I can really see Ayisha’s humour. It’s been on my TBR too, and I’m quite sure I need to read it soon. I’ll be looking out for your review! A Darker Shade of Magic and A Gathering of Shadows have also been on my list, so I’d be really interested to know what you think of those too. 🙂

It’s a really great video. Ayisha seems like such a wonderful person, so I’m really excited to read her book! Everyone seems to love the Shades of Magic series so I’m really hoping it lives up to the hype, it sounds so interesting 🙂

  2. I just finished reading A Darker Shade of Magic a few hours ago. I really liked it and I’m definitely glad that I decided to pick it up. Now I just need to get A Gathering of Shadows and I have a feeling after I read that one, I’ll be on the lookout for more of Schwab’s books. 🙂

  3. Have fun in Greece!! For some reason I was reminded of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants as I read your post. I wonder if it was Kos the girls went.
